# My IP location is incorrect

> Why the location of your proxy IP might differ across various checking tools and what it means.

You may notice that when you check your proxy's IP address on different websites, they sometimes report different locations (especially the city). This is a normal and expected phenomenon in the geolocation industry.

### Why Do Location Mismatches Happen?

There is no single, central database for IP geolocation. Every IP checking service (including us) subscribes to a data provider, such as MaxMind or DB-IP. These providers constantly update their databases, but they don't all update at the same time.

This can lead to temporary discrepancies:

* **Provider A** might have updated its database yesterday, correctly identifying an IP as being in Berlin.
* **Provider B** might be using a database from last week, which still lists that same IP as being in Munich.

While the city-level accuracy can vary slightly, we guarantee the following:

1. **Country-Level Accuracy:** When you request a proxy from a specific country (e.g., `-country-de`), the IP address will **always** belong to that country.

### How to Verify Your Location
